Free tap water to help reduce childhood obesity.

waterThe latest idea to help tackle to childhood obesity has been suggested by a body representing councils in England and Wales. They suggest that even though many families will drink tap water at home, when they are out in restaurants people are not sure of the rules and instead end up buying sugary drinks for their children.
All licensed premises in England, Scotland and Wales must provide free tap water to customers but it has been suggested that people don’t realise they are able to ask for this. The local government association have put forward that restaurants should make tap water available at the onset rather than waiting for people to request it. As well as preventing people from drinking sugary drinks it may reduce the alcohol consumption by adults.
